Schools starts and festivals Continue Sept 2011

September is here, school has started, but the music continues. August ended with the Rendevous Picnic in St. Albert. It was a combination 150th birthday and attempt to set a record for the largest picnic. I played on the stage in front of city hall and a couple of spots along the river bank. I even made enough in store credits to help buy my "New to Me" keyboard, but more about that later.
Have you ever been to the Beaumont Blues Festival? I had the honour of performing on their Friday nigh youth night with Scenic Route to Alaska, DRT and others. Amazing stage, lights, smoke and unbelievable sound. I have some video's up in the video section, check them out. The only down side was being bit by a wasp just before we left for the festival. Some ice, ibuprofen and an antihistamine and I was off the show.
Kaleido, a weekend festival on 118 Ave, was back bigger and better this year. I helped open the Friday night with Tam Neilene and Brittany Grabill at the St Faith's Anglican Church stage. It was a sisterhood of music as we joined in on each other's songs with instruments and background vocals. Tama and I even wrote a couple of spontaneous songs together. Saturday was at Don's Piano Bar Stage with Kayla Patrick and Barobliq. Don even had his own personal Baby grand piano on stage for performers like me to use.
Kaleido was also memorable because it was my first time using my "New to Me" Roland rd 300gx. It may not be a baby grand but I love my baby.
