Its already February. This has been a busy month for me and it is still going. The month started with CD grant applications..wish me luck. I have played at the Metropolis Festival down at Churchill Square a couple of times. They have these great temporary structures set up and a small stage in the food court building. The Alberta Winter Games is in Spruce Grove. I played for the athletes yesterday and I am back out to Stony plain again tomorrow. The sound stage was great and the athletes are an enthusiastic audience. I was at the winter games two years ago competing in gymnastics so it is cool to be part of the event again. Tonight I played in the Winspear lobby for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Valentines show. I loved the piano and it is always fantastic to play for a music loving crowd. Coming up this month I am playing at Winterfest on February 18th. This folk festival runs the whole weekend at Expressionz Cafe and Arts Space so come down and support the performers. At the end of the month I am at the Blue Chair and I will have Kip joining me on drums. Just check out my calendar for all of the dates and times. Today is my brother's birthday so we can all with him "Happy Birthday" together. |

A new year and a time for new things. I performed at the new airport terminal as part of a first peak party for the airports special guests, staff and families. I got to catch up and play with old friends from U22. We all pulled together as part of the first official Rhea March Music event. I have been back in the studio with Alana, Mike, and Sandro. We were also joined by Russel Broom(amazing guitar) and made to feel welcome at DanLyn studios. Russel said my song "The Bargain" was very pretty for a song about people getting eaten. We still have more work to do on the tracks but recording the beds was amazing. After hearing my songs played with people like this it spoils me for the real world.

Yay!! We applied for a Harvard Broadcasting Travel Grant for our trip to Toronto for my nomination at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and we got the grant. Now we just have to do the after report. I'm still working on collecting songs for my next Cd. We have some stuff recorded and hopefully will get back in the studio in January. I am going to put up some new pictures I had done with Alexis Mckeon this fall.

Hi everyone. I am back from Toronto and the Canadian Folk Music Awards. It was exciting being nominated for Young Performer of the Year. I got to hear a bunch of great music and met a lot of friendly people. Loreena McKennitt filled the Gala hall with her voice and I met her at the Gala afterwards. Jim Brynes played some blues guitar on stage and then I met him at the reception after the Gala. He recognized me as a nominee and congratulated me and said my music was great. We asked him how he knew it was good and he said because he listened to all of the nominee's music before he came. How cool is that, someone like that taking the time to listen to a nominee like me. It was an amazing weekend, hopefully I get a chance to do it again some day.
Bye Rebecca |
